I would rather see you for fifteen minutes this week than for thirty next month. Most things get simpler when you catch them early, and most people know when something has changed. If you call and say it feels different, we find you a slot.

Children do badly with strangers, and so do parents at two in the morning. I keep my own newborns and my own sick visits, which means by the time your child is four we already know each other. Call about the small things. They are usually small.

A lot of what I see has been carried around for a year before anyone mentions it. Bleeding that changed, pain that is not normal for you, a decision about contraception you have been putting off. Bring it. There is nothing on my list I have not heard before.

I hold the largest share of same-day slots, so I meet a lot of people on their worst afternoon. That is a good introduction. You find out quickly whether a practice picks up the phone and whether anyone follows up two days later. We do both.
